Is this over hyped product worth the buy: Konjac Sponge

Hey guys I’m back again with a product I’ve been seeing a lot of on social media. It’s the Konjac sponge. It’s a new tool for washing your face, but is it worth the hype??

I’ve seen some videos of people scrubbing their feet with this sponge and it magically removes dirt, and their feet looks visibly cleaner than before. I’m here to test it out and see if it’s really that magical.

Where did it come from: The konjac sponge is a Japanese beauty tool that has made it’s way to the states.
What is it: It’s a sponge that is made from the konjac root, there are different colored sponges which have different ingredients, such as charcoal, pink clay and chamomile.
What does it do: It’s supposed to exfoliate your skin and leave your skin feeling softer SpoonfulOfDia-konjac sponge review -02and smoother. The Honest company advertises that you will “see more vibrant glowing skin after every use”. This sponge can be used with or without soap.
Where to get it: There are many different brands of konjac sponge but this one is from Honest Beauty – (part of The Honest Company) which I purchased from Target for $12 which I don’t think is too bad of a price. This particular konjac sponge has a shelf life of 2-3 months, which it says on the packaging. If you really stretch the time and replace it at the max time of 3 months then it would run you $48  for the year which still isn’t that bad of a price.

My opinion and experience: This sponge is all natural! That’s a plus. This sponge is really soft and feels so nice. I personally am not sure how much exfoliating this sponge can do because it is so soft. You guys know I’m looking for a way to keep my skin clear SpoonfulofDia-Konjac Sponge Review-01until my wedding day, I’ve mentioned it in past blog posts; This sponge is not the cure for that and yes, I still have the little itchy acne bumps. But any claims that this sponge will miraculously clear all acne is false.

Do I notice a visible difference:
Not really, but I don’t use the sponge consistently every day.
Will I purchase this again: Probably not, it’s not really what I was looking for.
Should you buy it: It’s entirely up to you! As long as you don’t have high expectations go for it. If you’re looking for something that is very gentle on your skin then this is definitely it and for you!

As always, I try these products so you won’t have to. But if you think you’ll like this give it a try and let me know what you think.
